What Makes a Flower Cry?
What makes a flower cry?
Is it getting trampled on from a passerby
Not being acknowledged for its beauty by birds in the sky
Always grounded in dirt
Having no wings to fly….
What makes a flower cry?
The pain of blooming in silence
Growth in soft and hardness of natural violence
Its body clashing against its environment
Going for days without nutrient requirements….
What makes a flower cry?
Is it depending on people for their waters
Whether in a pot, parking lot or shady spot
Just to be plucked and given to daughters
Who think of the beauty process for naught….
What makes a flower cry?
Is it going day to day living dry
When the respite of a few drops are so closely by
But no one cares until it withers and starts to die
Then caring no longer an afterthought but an urgent lie….
None of these things make a flower cry. It endures intensity and beautifies. But if I ever see a flower shed tears, there’s one thing I know:
That flower will use its tears to continue to grow.
